On wiki, RSS and web 2.0

I keep seeing these words around in the blog world and wonder what they mean. I really should ask someone to explain them to me but I fear I will fall asleep before I get to the end.

here's the incredibly short and simple version:
wiki - check out wikipedia.com for the best example - the difference from a regular info site is that you can edit and contribute to all the content.
RSS - need to show you this - try Google Reader (instructions in last email)
Web 2.0 - you're doing it - it's when the users are part of it all.
Still awake?

I confess, I'd had a wee trawl through wikipedia, and it all was very dull. Though seems odd as a boy on the bus recently was reading a vast tome called something like "RSS for Dummy's" so I thought it was going to be something cooooool.

trust me, RSS will bring joy to your life ...
wikipedia - it's like an encyclopedia that anyone can keep updated - so potentially dull unless you want to find something out

No, I mean I love Wikipedia, it's my fave reference bible. It's just when I looked up those words above that it was dull....she says getting excited over 700 pages of collected letters
from some dead nobody from last century!!!

Oh, and RSS is the thing that makes it possible for you to "subscribe" to a blog, which means you'll be notified if a blog is updated.

And that in turn means you won't have to look at other people's blog three times a day with a james cook IP address and they won't freak out because they think you're a stalker and they won't remove their personal address and they won't find out who you are and then meet you at a pool bar ... :-)

Goodness I've only just got a DVD player, and I still take photographs on 35mm film, and the cones of my speakers are made out of paper.....and and and.....alright, I'll check it out then. Humph
